Professor Peterson teaches undergraduate and graduate courses that
explore the influence and use of mass communication in daily life--what
we do in reading magazines, watching television, listening to rock 'n'
roll, using the Internet, and talking about media events. He teaches
additional undergraduate courses in nonverbal communication and courses
on special topics such as communication diversity and
lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender identities in mass communication.
Currently, he is conducting research on storytelling in weblogs and on
the integration of media consumption, interpersonal play, games, and
narrative practices. He is co-author (with Kristin M. Langellier) of a
series of publications on narrative including such topics as family
storytelling, women's storytelling, and the politics of storytelling.
